On September 22, North Shore Community College held a groundbreaking ceremony for our Lynn campus expansion project. The Lynn campus opened in 1985 and was immediately filled to capacity. This long-awaited expansion is a two-year project expected to be completed for the start of the 2017 spring semester. A new wing added to the McGee Building on Broad Street will house ten classrooms, a consolidated Student Success Center, a centralized testing center, Academic Technology Space, a Center for Teaching, Learning & Assessment, and several offices.

North Shore Community College President Patricia Gentile said, “NSCC is the city of Lynn’s only institution of higher education and we embrace our role as a community resource and contributing partner. We look forward to the expanded opportunities this new facility will provide for all.”

Speakers at the event included Governor Charlie Baker, House Speaker Robert DeLeo, and State Senator Thomas McGee who spoke about his father’s participation when NSCC opened the Thomas W McGee Building in 1985. Also present at the 9/22 ceremony were state representatives Theodore Speliotis, Brendan Crighton, Lori Ehrlick, and Donald Wong. The builders on the $21million project will be Lynn construction company Delulis Brothers.
